Kyaikmaraw, a small charming town, is located 24 km Southwest of Mawlamyine. On the way, you can see toddy and rubber plantation, the road passes through eight villages. A walk through this small, charming town with traditional wooden homes, whose roofs are covered either with thatched-palm or corrugated metal roof, is always worthwhile. Visit also the Kyaikmaraw Pagoda, built by Queen Shin Saw Pu in 1455 and idyllically situated at a small lake. Near Mudon, 30 kilometers south of Mawlamyine, is the world's largest reclining Buddha Image under construction. From here continue to Kyaikkami, a small coastal resort and missionary center known as Amherst during the British era. The main focus of Kyaikkami is Yele Paya, a metal-roofed Buddhist shrine complex perched over the sea and reached via a long two-level causeway. Other attractions here are the colonial administrative buildings that are nearly 100 years old. Overnight in Mawlamyine.

On the way visit Eindu, a small town with weaving home industries, the Lonpini Park with the Bodi Tahtaung Pagoda at the base of Zwekabin Mountain and the Thamanya monastery, located 23 miles south-east of Hpa-an beside the Hpa-an - Kawkareik road. This place is very famous for the most venerable monk "Thamanya Sayardaw", passed away in 2003. Pilgrims all over the country come to pay homage so it is always full of pilgrims and devotees. A large-scale catering establishment offers vegetarian meals to all pilgrims. Overnight in Hpa-an.

DAY 04 HPA-ANKYAIKHTIYO (B)
Early morning visit the downtown and market area. Then drive to Kyaikhtiyo (appr. 3 hours). At Kyaikhtiyo Township, transfer from your car to a special open truck for your ascent to Kinmon Base Camp (appr. 45 minutes drive). From here continue the journey up to the Golden Rock on foot. (This trail is sometimes steep, but is smooth, and there are covered shelters every 50-100 meters to rest, and have a cold drink. Porters will be available to assist anyone who wishes help, and a "sedan chair" conveyance is available for those who do not wish to walk.) Along the way, will be many pilgrims who have walked from the very base of the mountain. At the shrine, is a small stupa placed atop the Golden Rock, a massive granite boulder. Covered with gold leaf, and precariously balanced over the edge of the mountain, it is purported to be held in place, "balanced on hairs of the Buddha". Enjoy the late afternoon activities at the shrine, before returning back to your hotel for overnight.
