1 Day Bagan (by horse-drawn carriage and boat) (L)
starting from $69
You will be picked up at your hotel around 8:00 a.m. Your guide will take you by carriage to the Ananda Temple, with its four giant upright Buddha statues and numerous seated figurines within its inner gallery niches. From there, you’ll continue on to the Shwe Gu Gyi Temple, known for its stucco decorations and panoramic views of the region’s various monuments. Your next stop is the Shwezigon Pagoda, which was built as a religious shrine by King Anawrahta in the early 11th century. Picnic lunch near the ruins. In the afternoon, you’ll take a boat ride up the Ayeyarwady River and visit the Kyaukku U Min Temple. This ‘rock cave tunnel’ features interesting stone reliefs. On the way back down the river, the boat stops off at the Bupaya Pagoda, which, due to its cylindrical shape, is considered to be one of Bagan’s oldest pagodas. From there, it is just a short walk to the Mahabodhi Temple.
