All-day boat trip on Inle Lake and visit to Indein (L)

All-day boat trip on Inle Lake (25 km in length), which is known for its one-man boats, floating gardens, fishermen and the village life out on the water, as well as the Phaung Daw Oo Pagoda, where there are five sacred, almost formless Buddha statues, which have become deformed because of the many pieces of gold leaf applied by devout persons as a gift. The Buddha statues are thought to be from the 12th century. Lunch at a local restaurant. Afternoon excursion to Indein (approx. 1-hour journey) through a beautiful countryside of tall grasses and little watering holes to view the historical Bagan and Shan-style pagodas, which were built during the Bagan period. The pagoda ruins, hidden in bushes, officially date back to the 12th-13th century.
