Day trip to Green Hill Valley Elephant Camp (L)

You will be picked up at your hotel around 8:00 a.m. A 40-minute drive away from Kalaw is the Green Hill Valley Elephant Camp – an excellent example of Myanmar’s emerging ecotourism. The new project is aimed at protecting the local ecology, elephants and traditions of the local community.
In the 150-hectare private reserve, nature is able to grow undisturbed. Teak trees, grevilleas and pine trees have been replanted. Old and impoverished elephants are also looked after here. The camp offers visitors the opportunity to see them in their natural habitat as well as learn about them and their leaders. Short elephant rides are allowed but the comfort of the animals is the main priority. What’s more, the project helps to support and improve health and education in the local villages. In the late afternoon, you will return to Kalaw.
