Day hike around Pindaya (L)

You will be picked up at your hotel around 8:00 a.m. You will walk from Pindaya with your guide. The path leads through beautiful countryside. On the way, you will visit the tribal villages of the Danu and Taung Yoe. The first hour takes you 300 metres uphill to Htwet Ni, a Danu village with around 40 houses. These people’s livelihoods are based on agriculture: they also occasionally cultivate fruit, such as papaya and jackfruit. Your tour guide will introduce you to the local villagers and show you how bamboo products such as hats and mats are traditionally made. For another hour, the steep path leads uphill (600 metres higher) to See Kya Inn, a Taung Yoe village. The local inhabitants work in plantations along this route, which are used to grow cauliflower, coffee, rice malt, tea and cordia leaves. Lunch at one of the houses in the village. In the afternoon, the path leads gently downhill. You will reach Taung Paw Gyi after two hours, where the vehicle will take you back to Kalaw.
