Full-day tour of Pindaya (L)

You will be picked up at your hotel around 8:00 a.m. With your guide, you will stroll through the town and visit the colourful market, which villagers travel to from the surrounding mountains to sell their fruit and vegetables. Enjoy a small snack in a tea shop near the market and watch the bustling morning market from there. On a tea plantation, your host will tell you all about the cultivation and preparation of tea and other regional delicacies and invite you to pick your own tea leaves. Lunch at a local restaurant.
In the afternoon you will visit a family who specialise in the production of paper parasols. The paper is made from mulberry trees. Here, you can see the production and buy parasols of all sizes. Finally, you will visit the Pindaya Caves, which house more than 8,000 Buddhas. In the first caverns, there are countless Buddha statues (over 8,000). During the tour you will also discover small caves which can only be accessed by crawling. These serve as meditation spaces.
