Day trip to Bago (L)
starting from $87
Early morning car or train ride to Bago (approx. 1½ hours). In Bago, you will visit the Kyaik Pun Pagoda, with its four giant Buddha statues, the interesting market with various types of vegetables, flowers and merchandise and the Kha Khat Wain monastery, where a long queue of monks forms every day before 11 a.m., as they wait patiently to receive their daily meal. Lunch at a local restaurant. In the afternoon, you’ll visit the Shwemawdaw Pagoda, which, at a height of 114 metres, is Myanmar’s tallest pagoda, the Pyay May Pyay Pagoda, where visitors marvel at the large python, the Shwetharhlaung Pagoda, with its huge reclining Buddha which is more than 1,000 years old, the Mon village, with its many cotton weaving mills and the Hintha Gon Pagoda, where the city of Bago was founded.
